Imogen Wilkinson

Having recently graduated from Manchester School Of Art in Textiles In Practice. Specialising in Print and Embroidery processes, her practice is loosely derived from her interest of ‘process art’. Taking inspiration from the Artists Sol Lewitt and Richard Serra, Imogen sources inspiration for her textile works for public spaces and private contexts through working from literature. Utilising an emotive vocabulary of her own, Imogen’s work is consistent of layers of marks and delicate shapes that have been taken from the drawings produced from this vocabulary.

To begin a piece of embroidery Imogen often takes inspiration from previous drawings and collages to then translate into textile pieces. Once the textile piece is complete, inspiration for future drawings is taken from the stitch or print quality of the textile work.
